Landlord Tenant Law 101- November 8, 2007
Leasing, Security Deposits, & Evictions
Garden State Apartments General Meetings

Host: Sunny Kancherla, CEO GardenStateApartments.com
Topic: Leasing, Security Deposits, & Evictions
Speakers: Bruce Gudin, Esq.

NovGSAMeeting4.jpgThis event focused on planning ahead to avoid problems with a tenant, legal leasing practices, critical lease provisions, setting up security deposits, and an introduction to the eviction process including the various grounds to lawfully dispossess a residential tenant and recover possession of a rented premises. While we hope that our leasing practices are good enough to avoid evictions if possible, sometimes we must turn to the court system for assistance, and hopefully justice. The experienced attorneys from Levy, Ehrlich & Petriello educated guests on what we need to do in order to ensure a more favorable outcome.

About the Speaker: Bruce E. Gudin, currently counsel to the New Jersey Property Owners Association, was admitted to practice law in 1989 after graduating from Yeshiva University's Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Mr. Gudin attended undergraduate at Farleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey and C.W. Post in Long Island, NY where he received his B.S. Degree Magna Cum Laude in business. While attending C.W. Post he was awarded the Wall Street Journal Award for outstanding academic performance.NovGSAMeeting8.jpg

Since graduating law school Mr. Gudin has been a frequent lecturer on the subjects of Debtor and Creditor Law, Credit and Collections Risk Analysis, Landlord/Tenant Law, Residential and Commercial Evictions in New Jersey, Commercial Leasing Considerations, and on Section 8 Housing in New Jersey. He regularly lectures for the National Business Institute as well as Lorman Education Services.  He has also presented seminars on Landlord and Tenant matters to the New Jersey Institute For Continuing Legal Education.

Mr. Gudin is also an active member of the New Jersey Apartment Association where he regularly consults on legislative issues affecting the multi-family housing industry.

All those in attendance received a copy of the New Jersey Landlord Manual. Garden State Apartments thanks all of those who attend our general meetings, and hopes to see them again at the next meeting on December 13th, 2007.
