Today's the big day! Make sure you talk to your movers and let them know if you have any special instructions. When you leave your old home, make sure you take note of everything and check for anything left behind! - Show the movers around. Make sure your possessions to be moved are accounted with them.
- Indicate if the there is any need for boxes to be placed into the moving truck in a certain order.
- Write "subject to further inspection for concealed loss or damage" on contract when you sign to protect yourself should you find damage while unpacking.
- Get all keys together placed in a secure spot.
- Make sure moving truck driver has correct address, phone number and directions. Confirm delivery date with him.
- Check all rooms one last time. Remember closets, cupboards, basement, and the garage are all notorious areas for leaving items behind!
- Make sure all windows and doors are locked.
- Take note of final utility meter readings.
- Leave a note with your new address in the house so that future residents can forward any stray mail.
