You know how you're going to move, and you've notified everyone about your address change. Now what? It's time to notify your utlity providers about disconnection, and start packing your stuff!
Pack your important documents in one secure place:
- Passports
- Military records
- Mortgage records
- School records
- Marriage license
- Birth certificates
- Tax records
- Vehicle titles
- Stock certificates
- Insurance papers
- Bank records
- Medical records
Make arrangements to disconnect the following utilities. Get refunds for any deposits and have any meters read. Give new address for them to send their final bill:
Start packing. Organize boxes by marking contents, room specified. Write "Open First" on boxes containing basic necessary items to be emptied out first:
- Pots and pans
- Dishes
- Plates
- Bedding
- Alarm clock
- Toiletries
- Special toys
- Towels
- Light bulbs
- Hygiene products
- Tools
- Trash bags
*Pack all items that are of less importance. Organize by contents and room specified, mark in numbers to be opened in an orderly fashion. Especially helpful if it is a DIY move.
*Make travel arrangements for pets and plants
*Have your car checked out and perform any needed tune-ups
*Empty out any flammables/hazardous material from any yard tools/equipment
