Fill Vacancies Faster: Use Professional Signsfor_rent_245

Depending on your desired target market, a For Rent Sign on the lawn or in the window of your vacancy may be a great way to attract the right renters. If you are concerned about too many phone inquiries and explaining what you have available, you may want to consider putting your email address or Garden State Apartments Listing ID on the sign (for example NJAP####).

And if the property is not on a main street, you may want to consider using directional For Rent signs to help fill your vacancies. Using directional For Rent signs to help direct prospective residents to your rental homes from nearby major intersections greatly increases the chances that more prospective residents will go by your property. Some landlords have been able to double or even triple the amount of traffic to their properties by using directional signs in addition to the standard For Rent Sign in front of the property. Not sure where to get directional signs?

The NJ Apartment MLS has negotiated an excellent deal with online sign maker Build A Sign.com to make them available for less than the normal cost from any local store.  Plus you can easily design custom signs from your computer and the signs are delivered directly to your door.

Internet Advertising & Yard Signs represent the two most common ways today's renters are finding their new homes.  So make your property stand out from the standard hardware store Orange/White/Black For Rent sign.

Additional Tips on Signs:

  • To enhance visibility, place more than one sign the property.
  • Place a small box on one of the signs to place flyers with rental details.  This will help disqualify prospects by revealing price, policy and expectations.
  • Make sure you print the contact information clearly and in large print so that is readble from the street. (Many landlords lose rental opportunities by making the writing too small or unreadable).
  • To make the signs stand, tie balloons to it.  Adding balloons to the "For Rent" sign in front of your rental can increase the effectiveness of the sign and add helium for an  increased effect.
  • Digitally printed signs present a more professional appearance to prospective tenants.
